"Series 8" from Citizen - distinctive, mechanical and protected against magnetic fields
Those who primarily associate the Japanese watch manufacturer with radio-controlled watches, Eco-Drive solar technology, GPS watches and precise quartz movements are not wrong, but overlook Citizen's traditional, extensive mechanical expertise – which can be found, among other things, in the new "Series 8" model with increased magnetic resistance.

The very first product the brand released in 1924 was a mechanical pocket watch that boasted impressive accuracy for its time. This was made possible by Kamekichi Yamazaki, who founded the Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1918, imported tools and machinery, and began producing watch components.
In his quest to produce exceptionally high-quality watches, he even founded a watchmaking school. When, after six years, the first pocket watch was ready for mass production, the mayor of Tokyo named it Citizen, expressing his hope that many people would use and appreciate this precise, everyday timepiece.
This has happened, but not only that. Since then, much has also happened in terms of innovation. Technologies and materials have been further developed to ensure that we are not only always at the cutting edge of precision and aesthetics, but also always one step ahead. True to the Citizen motto: "Better Starts now."„
Based on this conviction, the „Series 8“ was created in 2021, initially with three mechanical models, equipped with the magnet-resistant movements caliber 0950 and caliber 9051. These offer protection against magnetic fields generated by smartphones, tablets and other devices that can impair the accuracy of the watch.
The number 8 in the name of the „Series 8“ stands for infinity (∞) and thus for Citizen’s endless pursuit of developing ever better, more accurate watches that meet the modern requirements of people.
„Series 8 – Limited Edition“ with ice blue dial
This year, Citizen presents the ice blue version of the automatic model „831“, which is limited to 1,800 pieces worldwide.

The patterns on the dial are inspired by crystal-clear water and reflect the light with a sparkling effect. The octagonal case, with its clean lines and polished surfaces, complements the geometric patterns of the dial.
Inside, the in-house caliber 9051, with enhanced magnetic resistance, is well shielded against magnetic fields that can significantly disrupt the watch's accuracy. Even when the watch is less than a centimeter away from an electronic device—such as a smartphone or tablet—it remains well protected. The automatic movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back of the 40-millimeter stainless steel case.
