CITIZEN x seconde/seconde/ – When power becomes idea
CITIZEN | Hall A1, Booth 202
With the first collaboration between CITIZEN and the French creative powerhouse second/second/ The successful TSUYOSA series will receive an artistic expansion at INHORGENTA 2026. The limited-edition special model combines Japanese watchmaking craftsmanship with conceptual design – and deliberately emphasizes humor, symbolism, and narrative depth.

For years, the TSUYOSA collection has stood for colorful automatic watches designed to bring joy to everyday life. In the collaboration with seconde/seconde/, this approach is taken a step further: art and watchmaking meet here with a playful wink, without losing sight of functionality.
Playful power – a katana as a minute hand
The design is based on the name TSUYOSA, which means "power" and "strength" in Japanese. Artists and watch designers Romaric André, founder of seconde/seconde/, translates this meaning in an unusual way: The minute hand becomes a katana – the traditional Japanese samurai sword.
The sword is designed in the pixel art style of retro Japanese video games. With humorous consistency, it appears to slice right through the hour markers. This creates a clock face that not only catches the eye but also tells a small visual story – playful, ironic, and precise at the same time.

Design with a message
The creative concept is consistently implemented. The dial and sword hilt are rendered in an intense blue. The clasp of the stainless steel bracelet features stylized sword cuts. A concise message from seconde/seconde/ is emblazoned on the transparent case back:
„Being smaller has never stopped Minutes from slicing Hours into pieces.“
Translated: "Their smaller size has never stopped minutes from cutting hours into pieces." The statement is symbolic of courage, self-confidence, and the ability to overcome even seemingly superior obstacles.

Limitation with meaning
The limitation also follows this conceptual approach. Worldwide, the CITIZEN TSUYOSA x seconde/seconde/ on 3,600 copies limited – a number derived from the number of seconds in an hour. Precisely the time that the katana minute hand symbolically cuts into pieces.

Technology and everyday usability
Technically, the model is based on the proven TSUYOSA platform. Inside, the CITIZEN in-house automatic movement caliber 8210 with manual winding capability and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter at a height of 11.7 mm.
Features include sapphire crystal with date magnifier, a three-link stainless steel bracelet, and a transparent case back. The watch comes in a limited-edition box specially designed by seconde/seconde/.

Art meets clock – with attitude
With the TSUYOSA x seconde/seconde/, CITIZEN demonstrates how an established watch line can be reinterpreted through conceptual design. The collaboration combines Japanese precision, French creativity, and a clear message – adding an unusual, collectible facet to the TSUYOSA world.
The official sales launch is for February 2026 planned. The non-binding recommended retail price is 450 euros.
