Market research firms, fashion and jewelry labels, and social media platforms have compiled information on the trends that will influence and inspire us this year. Some of these may be short-lived microtrends, while others have been emerging for some time and have since gained popularity.
A closer look reveals several overarching factors that can be considered guiding principles when it comes to meeting customer tastes and needs. These include sustainability, price awareness, and the need to express one's own personality.
Colored gemstones and fancy cuts
The trend for colored gemstones is one that has been around in the jewelry industry for quite some time now – and why not? Colored gemstones are a popular alternative to diamonds and are increasingly becoming the first choice for engagement rings. The advantages are obvious: almost everyone has a favorite color that they can find reflected in a colored gemstone. This means that colorful jewelry complements a harmonious outfit and simply brings joy.
The topic of so-called birthstones has also gained further momentum. Each month of the year is associated with one or two gemstones, which can form the basis for a particularly personal piece of jewelry. The birthstone for February is amethyst. Among the most popular colored gemstones are the classics: ruby, emerald, and sapphire. But gemstones in delicate, pastel shades, such as tourmaline and morganite, are also popular.
In line with the colored gemstone trend, vintage cuts and fancy cuts are also back in popularity. This means that colored gemstones can now be combined with more unusual designs.

Vintage aesthetic
The vintage aesthetic trend is also proving to be a lasting success. There are several reasons for this. Motivated by the trend towards sustainability and also due to a certain price consciousness, many consumers are now buying pre-owned jewelry and watches – in the case of timepieces, the certified pre-owned market has grown into a well-established sector in its own right. The same applies to both jewelry and watches: accessories with a previous owner don't harm the environment, are often more affordable, and have retained their quality. For many consumers, it's also easy to find a few beautiful old pieces in their own drawers and jewelry boxes and restore them to their former glory.
This more conscious consumption is also influencing new jewelry designs, which are helping the vintage aesthetic to make a comeback. Among the vintage trends is the Art Deco style of the 1920s, which also influences the trend in gemstone cuts (see above). Jewelry of this kind is characterized, for example, by the Asscher cut, baguette cut, or emerald cut. The vintage jewelry trend is also giving another exciting decorative material a new platform…

Pearls with character
Pearl jewelry made a comeback a year or two ago and has remained a popular choice in jewelry fashion ever since. No wonder, as pearls are a timeless classic. They are considered elegant and feminine, suitable for any occasion, and their versatility allows them to be transformed into ever-new and modern looks. They enhance an office outfit just as much as a party look and accompany brides as jewelry on one of the most emotional days of their lives.
“They are considered ”vintage” because the classic strands of pearls, which grandmothers wore in the 1950s and 60s, could now be brought out of the jewelry box again.
What is new, however, is the development that, in addition to perfectly round specimens, pearls with a natural character are now also becoming the highlight of jewelry. Large, irregularly shaped baroque pearls are strung together to create striking necklaces or lend earrings that certain something. Individuality and personal expression continue to play a major role in jewelry. Since no two baroque pearls are alike, they are perfectly suited as a jewelry material for these needs and are also ideal for goldsmiths to create unique pieces.

Statements and sculptures
Statement jewelry also has the potential to become a long-lasting trend. As early as 2023, we saw how jewelry became increasingly larger and more opulent. Small necklaces and tiny earrings are out. The jewelry that captivates is eye-catching, often yellow gold or covered in shimmering pavé.
This has led to a trend that puts sculptural jewelry in the spotlight: the striking pieces are now not just large, but vibrant and three-dimensional. The forms they take are often floral or inspired by the animal kingdom, which allows for the use of gemstones and other decorative materials to further enhance the designs' visual impact and vibrancy.
Earrings and necklaces are the two jewelry highlights that are particularly suitable for enhancing an outfit and making a real statement, but cocktail rings and eye-catching bangles also enrich the trend.

Sparkling and floral
The jewelry that makes a statement not only comes in the form of artistic, sculptural shapes, but also achieves its breathtaking effect through the use of sparkling rhinestones and diamonds.
This year's trendy designs are especially well-suited to spring and summer, as they are not only sparkling but also floral and romantic. Feminine-looking flowers and butterflies characterize the styles and bring a touch of cheer to everyday life.

lab-grown diamonds
Yes, lab-grown diamonds are still a trend in the jewelry industry. What makes them so attractive to many consumers is primarily the price point. Lab-grown diamonds are available at significantly lower prices, making it possible to afford, for example, a solitaire with a larger stone. The easy availability of lab-grown diamonds allows for fancy cuts and colors, which are bringing new ideas to jewelry design.

Charms, Y-necklaces and two-tone jewelry
Styles that offer a great deal of creative freedom and encourage mixing and matching are once again very popular. Charms for necklaces and bracelets, as well as earrings, are particularly well-suited for this. Charms can not only be combined according to personal taste, but also invite collection, creating a playful and vibrant look.
Fittingly, the two-tone look with combinations of gold and silver is also back in style. This opens up possibilities for layered looks, where, for example, a silver and a gold chain of different lengths are worn together. For those who want to add the finishing touch to their trend awareness, Y-necklaces are the perfect choice. These necklaces are also versatile and adaptable, perfectly embracing the trend of individual expression and personalization of jewelry. The mix of colors, materials, and styles shows: anything goes, nothing is forbidden.

To follow trends or not?
Following a trend is of course not mandatory, but it can help to tap into the customers' nerves, set new impulses or bring jewelry that is already in the product range back into the spotlight.
