Premiere: The watchmaker mobile takes off
Numerous industry partners support the project to secure the next generation of watchmakers.
Experience the premiere of the watchmaker's mobile at INHORGENTA 2025 directly in the West entrance area.
At INHORGENTA 2025, the latest and innovative initiative within the framework of the large-scale training offensive of the Central Association for Watches, Jewelry and Time Measurement Technology will be presented to the public for the first time..
The watchmaker's mobile
Although the profession offers excellent career prospects, watchmakers are desperately needed everywhere, whether in service workshops, by jewelers, or in production or service departments of manufacturers: there is a shortage of new talent everywhere. In addition, more and more watchmakers are retiring, and there simply aren't enough young people entering the profession.
„"The great tradition of watchmaking has become a protected cultural asset, just like the watches themselves."“
(Matthias Stotz: Founder of Vector-technik and Managing Director of Tutima Glashütte)
Watches, as status symbols and expressions of personality, continue to play a significant role for young people. Surprisingly, the watchmaker's profession is often unknown to the younger generation. One reason for this is that watchmaking is largely behind the scenes and therefore not very visible. It's hardly surprising, then, that young people often don't even consider watchmaking when thinking about their future careers.
To change this and to present the profession in a visible, understandable, approachable and attractive way, the central association has launched an innovative campaign:
Under the motto
„"We're bringing the watchmaking craft to the streets!"“
A Mercedes Sprinter, fully equipped as a watchmaker's workshop, will tour through Germany in the future!

The "Watchmaker's Mobile" is strikingly wrapped and always accompanied by expert master watchmakers. At training fairs, school events, city festivals, career conferences, company anniversaries, and other occasions, the future of the watchmaking trade is presented in a tangible, visible, and engaging way. The show vehicle offers a unique opportunity to discover the profession of watchmaking.
The mobile watchmaker's workshop sparks curiosity and operates without any barriers. It allows visitors to experience craftsmanship up close and try their hand at working with the precise components of a watch. This creates a vivid impression of this profession, which uniquely combines innovative technology, traditional craftsmanship, and creativity.

„"Everyone interested should be able to experience our craft live and in person at the watchmaker's mobile unit. Participation is expressly encouraged. We also want to provide all the information about training, career opportunities, and our supporters, and facilitate contacts."“
(ZV President Albert Fischer)
The entire event is accompanied at the location by information material, giveaways and competitions, and with the „"How do you tick?" campaign, digitally in social media, with its own website, lots of information about the profession and a job exchange, as well as through regional press work.

The association also receives support from the idea's originator and master watchmaker. Michael Manßhardt, who will significantly support the project coordination and management.
Support from industry
For example, the company Boley a workbench with basic equipment is available, Beco Technic supports the project with a high-quality timegrapher and terminal, Witschi with a magnetic field testing device, and the Mannheim Insurance It helps with the necessary insurance coverage for the traveling workshop. The company VECTOR Technology provides a lathe in complete basic equipment with VECTOR motor and wooden base, Kieninger a table tourbillon as a display object and Saddler a Mechanica M1 kit...
„We are delighted by the massive support from a wide range of sectors within the industry.“
– ZV President Albert Fischer

This is how the watchmaker's mobile unit can be used.
The mobile watchmaker's van, regularly stationed near Ulm, can be booked for events by member guilds and individual member businesses of the Central Association (free of charge, subject to availability). If no personnel are available to support the event, the show vehicle can also be accompanied by expert master watchmakers upon request.
The appearance of the watchmaker's mobile unit at key events such as the International Crafts Fair in Munich is arranged by the Central Association.
Do you have a suitable event in your town or would you like to plan something?
Appointment bookings for the watchmaker's mobile service by guilds and members are now being handled by the Office of the Central Association accepted.
