„Kieninger J Chrom“ x Armillary sphere

Left: the armillary sphere

You can find Kieninger at INHORGENTA in Hall A1.421.

For 111 years, the company Kieninger has been dedicated to the mechanical grandfather clock Made in Germany – and intends to continue doing so in the future.

High-quality materials, distinctive design, and technical excellence merge to create "time in its most beautiful form." This motto has guided the oldest existing German manufacturer of mechanical clocks from the very beginning.

And this of course also applies to the new caliber „Kieninger J Chrom“ with 1/4 spring-driven switching movement with escapement (5 or 11 jewels), three melodies (Westminster, St. Michael and Whittington) on 8-rod gong, safety winding lock, seconds display, permanent night shut-off and a power reserve of 170 hours.

Kieninger has combined its standard J movement with an armillary sphere mechanism for this new construction. The movement, dial, case, and armillary sphere mechanism are all housed in a full glass case, allowing an unobstructed view of the technology's aesthetics. This exceptional timepiece will be presented for the first time at INHORGENTA 2025.

About the armillary sphere

The armillary sphere is a model of a solar system that depicts the great circles of the sky and the movements of objects as seen from the outside by an observer (at the center). It is one of the oldest astronomical instruments known to humankind and was the most important observation and measuring instrument until the invention of the telescope.

The armillary sphere was also called the world machine and is a celestial globe reduced to the principal circles of celestial movements, showing the geocentric world system in an external view with the Earth at its center.
